Should your pool safety cover be repaired or replaced?
When determining whether you should replace or repair your pool safety cover you should take into consideration two factors:
The first factor is the age of the pool safety cover. If the pool safety cover is eight years or older, your warranty has been “pro-rated” down to a very low portion thus making a repair on a cover that shows severe wear a nonviable return on investment (in other words, the cover does not carry enough financial value on the warranty should something else tear it for you to make the investment to repair it).
The second factor would be the extent of damage the pool safety cover has. For example, if you have an oak tree in your backyard and the wind blew a limb off the tree and it tore a huge hole in two of the squares of the cover, in many cases, it makes more sense to purchase a new cover. Why would we recommend this? The shipping cost back to us along with the repair cost than the return shipping back to you actually add up and often makes it more cost-effective to purchase a new cover. This is not always the case but oftentimes it makes more financial sense to purchase a new cover.
Can I purchase a small patch kit to repair my cover?
Yes, we sell patch kits, but you really must evaluate the size of the hole to determine if it can be patched. The hole really should not be bigger than two inches in diameter to use a repair kit. The patch should overlap by 1 1/2″ on all sides of the tear. Anything larger than 2″ should be sent in to the manufacturer for repair or a new cover should be considered depending on the age of the cover as stated above.
I have an existing cover, how can I order a new cover?
If you have the serial number from the manufacturer, we can place the order and have a new one sent to you. If you do not have the serial number, you can send us an email at [email protected] and we can email you instructions as to how to measure for a replacement pool cover.
Pool cover materials are not all built the same. We have taken the time to research the marketplace and examine the materials of many different manufacturers to provide you with the very best the market has to offer. None of our products are made in China, Taiwan, or Japan. 98% of our products are made here in the USA. The only part that is not made in the USA is the actual replacement cover material for pool covers that are made in Germany and it comes with a 7-year warranty (the highest in the industry).
The best format for us to communicate with you is via email. If you can provide us with the manufacturer name, model number, and a photo of the part(s) we can provide a very reasonable turnaround to assist you. If you are not the “do it yourself” type of pool owner, we can refer you to one of our many network installers to assist you with the repair of your pool cover.
